It was pretty weird if you want me to be honest. Seeing Rudy Gay in any other uniform other than the the Beale Street Blues that he wore from the time he entered the league until he was traded last week. Once that shock wore off however, there was still a game to be played. The game ended up being a doozy.
The Grizzlies won their second game in as many nights on Wednesday by outscoring the Toronto Raptors 88-82. The game was no work of art at any point, until the outcome had been decided.
Zach Randolph posted another double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds but continued to struggle with his shot as he went only 4-17 from the field. He more than made up for that by shooting 9-14 from the free throw line though.
Mike Conley also had a good night posting 17 points of his own, including an impressive 3-6 from three-point range.
Both teams shot 36% for the game and wasn’t decided until Marc Gasol blocked a Rudy Gay shot late in the 4th quarter.
Gay posted just 15 points on 5-15 shooting and never got going in his first game against the Memphis Grizzlies in his career. After the way the Grizzlies treated him on Wednesday, it’s a safe bet that he misses even less about Memphis today.
On the other side, Tayshaun Prince scored 11 points on a tidy 5-10 from the field and played some quality defense on Gay. The Raptors also went small in the second half with Gay playing some power forward, but Randolph did more than a passable job on him.
The Grizzlies return to Memphis on Friday night to face the Orlando Magic.
