In games three and four of the Western Conference Finals the Memphis Grizzlies and the American Red Cross teamed up to aid the tornado victims of Oklahoma; setting up stations at every door of the FedExForum where fans could donate.
Tony Allen, an Oklahoma alum, was particularly rattled by the tragedies there and agreed to match all donations personally.
Michael Sheffield of the Memphis Business Journal has reported the donations will total more than $90,000 dollars and that since May 20th the NBA, it’s players and members of the Oklahoma City Thunder have donated more than 3$ million dollars in it’s relief effort.
“We hope the money that we collected during the Western Conference Finals will help victims of Oklahoma recover from this disaster,” Allen said in a statement. “Our hearts continue to go out to all the tornado victims in Oklahoma.”
