As far as most are concerned, there’s Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and everyone else. Fortunately Grizzlies fans get to avoid the circus and focus in on the everything else, and could in turn snag an under-the-radar signing.

Turns out Monta Ellis has an interest in being that signing, and it could make for an interesting fit. Kind of.

He never finished his tweet. So way to troll, Gery. But whatever.

Regardless, Ellis is essentially Rudy Gay – just far less efficient. Like Hal said in our recent podcast, we don’t need another bail out guy. We don’t need someone to take unadvised shots late in the shot clock. We need someone to sit in the corner and stretch the floor, who can also bolster our defense.

His signing would, if anything, just give the Grizzlies an excuse to abandon their sets.

You can also be assured that you’ll hear murmurings in some circles that we should sign Andre Iguodala. He was set to make $16 million next season in Denver; so if he’s opting out of that, we sure as hell can’t afford him. Or Ellis for that matter.

Look for us to pick up a guy like Kyle Korver, Marco Belinelli or Anthony Morrow, and to focus our effort on picking up talent in the second-round of the draft. James Southerland being a personal favorite.
