According the the SportsGrid website your Memphis Grizzlies are:
When your owner challenges Michael Jordan to a game of one-on-one for a million bucks, you might be Pretty Much Screwed.
- SportsGrid article, October 2013
The article characterizes Robert Pera as delusional, “…not a great trait for an NBA owner…”, and that Pera should be challenging the likes of Mark Cuban, not Michael Jordan.
Despite all that, the owner suffering from delusions of grandeur is not cited as the reason the Grizz are “pretty much screwed”.
The reasons noted are twofold:
Their lack of scoring punch that prevented them from threatening against the Spurs, (“we’re pretty sure that the addition of guards Mike Miller, Jamaal Franklin and center Kosta Koufos will not be the answer”).
The new head coach equates to a big question mark. All “…first-time head coaches to have to say things like he’s going to speed up the pace, spread out the offense, take shots earlier in the shot clock, etc., etc., blah, blah.”
What do you think?
