Grizzlies Shooting Guard Tony Allen Is Out For A Couple Of Weeks Due To Ligament Damage In His Hand

The Grizzlies continue to battle injuries this season. This time it’s Tony Allen going down, who earlier this week suffered ligament damage in his hand according to Kevin Lipe of the Memphis Flyer.

Allen is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks as a result of this injury. The good news for the Grizzlies is that this isn’t a fractured hand, which would have taken longer to heal, but it’s still another injury that the team is going to have to deal with.Hopefully by the time Allen returns, Marc Gasol will be back, who a week ago was cleared for light work.

The Grizzlies are a good enough team when healthy to make it into the playoffs and make some noise, but if they can’t get healthy, then their odds of making the playoffs are low.

The only real upside to Allen’s injury is it does give Courtney Lee more minutes, which means that it helps Dave Joerger get a feel for how to use Lee when Allen comes back. But with that being said, the Grizzlies desperately need Allen and Gasol back as soon as possible.  Especially with how competitive it is in the Western Conference.
