To nobody’s surprise, Jimmer Fredette won’t remain a Sacramento King for life. As a matter of fact, he is done donning the purple, silver, and black for good. Reports say that Jimmer and the Kings are negotiating a buyout of his contract which will make him a free agent. While the number of teams interested in the deadly 3-point shooter remains unclear, it is certain that one of them is the Memphis Grizzlies according to Josh Hill of Fansided.
This news honestly doesn’t come as any sort of a surprise since the Grizzlies would be a perfect fit for Jimmer Fredette. This is a perfect fit since the Grizzlies could always use more 3-point shooting and an extra point guard, and they play amazing enough defense that they could easily mask any of Jimmer’s flaws on defense. This move simply makes sense. It’s a low risk move with potentially decent rewards in return.
Of course, it isn’t like Jimmer Fredette is a castaway with no other teams potentially in need of his services. Plenty of teams such as the Spurs, Heat, Thunder, and Knicks all would love to add him to their team, not only believing they could benefit from his shooting, but also believing that his struggles in Sacramento were largely in part due to an inept franchise. If the Grizzlies want Jimmer Fredette, they better get aggressive before somebody else snatches him up.
