Memphis Slips By Washington 110-104 Behind Prince’s 21

Tayshaun Prince scored 21 points for the Grizzlies (34-25) on Monday night as they held on for a 110-104 win over the Wizards (31-29) as they almost blew a 19 point lead in the 4th quarter.

The Grizzlies led Washington 96-77 with under 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter and all of a sudden the Wizards caught fire. Bradley Beal, Trevor Ariza and Otto Porter hit a combined 6 three’s for the Wizards in the 4th as they pulled within two but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Tayshaun Prince led the Grizzlies with 21 points on 8-11 shooting.  Prince broke the 20 point mark in a game for the 1st time since joining the Grizzlies in late January of last year.

Both teams struggled mightily in the 1st quarter combining for 40 points while shooting well under 40% from the field. After the 1st quarter, both teams started to light it up from the field shooting well over 50% for the remainder of the game.

Memphis finished shooting 54% from the field and 46.2% from three (6-13).   This marked the 4th straight game where Memphis scored at least 100 points and are 3-1 in that stretch.

The Grizzlies are a season high 9 games over .500 are 1 game back of the 8th spot in the west. Memphis travels to Brooklyn on Wednesday night for a 6:30 CST tipoff.
