On a night where the Memphis Grizzlies needed a statement win, they blew a tire on route to a 112-92 blowout loss at the hand of the hated rival San Antonio Spurs.
San Antonio shot 55.8% from the field and saw Kawhi Leonard score 26 points on (12-13) shooting. The Grizzlies were pretty much out of the game after a lackluster 1st quarter where they trailed 26-12 at the end of 1.
The Grizzlies fell to 45-32 on the season and now sit a half game out of the 8th seed in the West. Depending on the outcome of the Thunder and Suns game later tonight, the Grizzlies could be a full game back of Phoenix with 5 games to go.
San Antonio swept the season series from the Grizzlies, and have now won 8 straight against Memphis dating back to the 2013 playoffs. The Grizzlies last win over San Antonio came on April 1st, 2013. Mike Conley hit a game winning layup on route to a 92-90 win for the Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.
