The Memphis Grizzlies will square off one final time with the Dallas Mavericks at FedEx Forum Wednesday night in Memphis as the jockeying for seeding in the 2014 playoffs concludes. With a win, the Grizzlies will most likely face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round as a 7 seed, and with a loss will face the San Antonio Spurs as the 8th seed.
Memphis clinched the final playoff spot in the West on Monday Night, defeating the Phoenix Suns 97-91. The Grizzlies swept the season series over the Suns and eliminated them from playoff contention with the win. Currently on a 4 game winning streak which features wins over The Heat, 76ers, Lakers and Suns, it has given Memphis the opportunity to jump ahead of Dallas and clinch the 7th seed.
Dallas holds a 3-0 series lead over the Grizzlies this season. The most recent victory came in Memphis on February 5th, as Dallas won that game 110-96. Memphis led the game 55-52 at the half, but their typical 1 quarter offensive meltdown cost them the game as they were outscored 26-17 in the 3rd. Zach Randolph led the Grizzlies in scoring with 25 points. Dirk Nowitzki was phenomenal for the Mavs as he scored 26 points on 10 of 14 shooting.
These two teams will definitely want a win on Wednesday Night. The loser will face off against San Antonio in round one of the playoffs.
