Dave Joerger may not win coach of the year, but he did win Western Conference coach of the month honors for the month of April. I for one think this is a well deserved honor for Joerger, who navigated the Grizzlies to the #7 spot in a tight Western Conference race at the end of the season. The Grizzlies have come prepared to fight towards the end of this season, and the first person who deserves credit for that is none other than Dave Joerger.
Joerger has made all the right moves such as having Tony Allen come off the bench and having Courtney Lee start at shooting guard to give the team more offense to start the game. He has also used Mike Miller effectively and has not been hesitant to have him play extended minutes when his shot is dropping. Joerger has certainly done a fantastic job this entire season and I’m glad he’s getting recognition for it in this well-deserved award. He has certainly earned the trust of the Grizzlies’ organization, fans, and players.
