Grizzlies forward James Johnson has been arrested for domestic assault

Grizzlies forward James Johnson has been arrested for domestic assault. My Fox Memphis has more details:

Memphis Grizzlies free agent James Johnson was arrested early Saturday morning after a domestic dispute with his wife at their home in downtown Memphis. Investigators say the couple got into some type of altercation as they were leaving Beale Street around 2 am. The 27 year old’s wife called police after she says Johnson hit her in the face with his open hand and choked her. She also told officers the NBA player punched a hole in their bathroom door, which is where she was waiting while holding their child. Officers say the victim gave the baby to her mother and Johnson then pushed that woman and took the baby before running away from the scene. Johnson eventually returned and was taken to jail.

Johnson will be an unrestricted free agent this summer after playing 52 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 7.4 points per game. He’s not exactly a guy who the franchise must re-sign. It will certainly be interesting to see whether or not the Grizzlies decide to re-sign him or if they will let him go somewhere else to play basketball.
