NBA honors former draft prospect Isaiah Austin

Isaiah Austin’s career was cut short this past week when he was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome.  He was projected to go in the late first round of the draft, but due to his condition, his NBA career is over before it even began.  The NBA took the initiative to honor him this evening in the middle of the first round:

 

 

This was a great gesture from Adam Silver and the NBA, as it’s really devastating for Austin and his family.

Austin probably would not have been picked up by the Grizzlies unless they were to trade down.  Regardless, as a fan of the NBA it’s good to see the silver lining in such a sad story.
