It was reported earlier this morning that the Memphis Grizzlies secured two time All-Star Zach Randolph to a 2 year contract extension worth $20 million.  The Grizzlies did the right job by extending Z-Bo thru the 2016-2017 season.

Randolph is the cornerstone of this Grizzlies franchise, and is a great all around player to have in Memphis. There’s no doubt that this was the #1 priority this offseason for Robert Pera and interim GM Chris Wallace to re-sign the big man.

After the Grizzlies picked up  Jarnell Stokes in last night’s NBA Draft, I thought Memphis had secured their big man of the future. Securing Randolph for another 2 years on top of his player option for this upcoming season, allows the Grizzlies to groom Stokes in to the next star big man for the team.

Hearing the news of the Randolph extension sent shockwaves of excitement thru the Memphis community.  Grizzlies fans can now sit back and enjoy the next three seasons having #50 dominating the paint, hauling in rebounds, and hopefully sending Memphis to the next level.
