Ed Davis to become an unrestricted free agent
The Grizzlies will allow power forward Ed Davis to become an unrestricted free agent. Davis has played about one and a half seasons with Memphis after being traded from the Toronto Raptors. This will leave Zach Randolph, Jon Leuer, and Jarnell Stokes as the power forwards left on the roster. This might mean that Memphis is anticipating Stokes receiving minutes early in his career, or the Grizzlies might end up finding someone else in free agency. Either way, the Grizzlies would be losing a promising young talent who is yet to reach is full potential. He was stuck on the depth chart behind Z-Bo, and this consequently hurt his playing time. A knock on Davis was that he never added enough bulk to his frame, which let him get bullied in the paint by physical defenders. The report comes from Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski:

It was initially expected that Davis would get a qualifying offer from the Grizzlies since he was set to be a restricted free agent, but apparently Memphis is going in a different direction. Whether or not the Grizzlies grab another power forward in free agency is yet to be seen, but odds are we won’t be seeing Ed Davis in Grizzly blue next season.
