Memphis Summer League: Grizzlies over Thunder 84-63
The Grizzlies’ Summer League team looked good yesterday as they pulled off a 21 point victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. This was a great showcasing from the squad, especially for some specific players.
I have to say that Jordan Adams looked pretty damn good out there. I know it’s only Summer League, but I was pretty down on selecting him with the 22nd pick in the draft, so this was a nice surprise. Adams totaled 22 points and 4 steals in 29 minutes, which is a great stat line for his first game.
This year’s other draft pick, Jarnell Stokes, looked very solid in his debut. He tallied 10 points and 5 boards in only 19 minutes, but he also racked up 6 personal fouls. It’s clear that the talent is there, and it will be great to see his development throughout the summer. Stokes is set to help backup Zach Randolph this upcoming season.
Another thing to note was that rebounding wasn’t fantastic, and it was pretty balanced across the board with nobody grabbing more than five. I also would have liked to have seen Janis Timma have a better game, because I think he’s an interesting prospect for Memphis.
The Memphis box score:
|MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (-)|

|T. White||DNP – COACH’S DECISION|

Overall it was a great showing for this young Summer League squad, so hopefully they will continue improve and develop throughout the summer.
