The Memphis Grizzlies are making progress towards finding a new general manager. It has been a slow and methodical process, but they are getting there. Via Adrian Wojnarowski:
The Memphis Grizzlies have narrowed candidates for a front-office job that could lead to becoming the franchise’s future general manager, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Indiana Pacers vice president of basketball operations Peter Dinwiddie and former New York and Toronto GM Glen Grunwald have advanced to the final stages of the search and will meet with Memphis owner Robert Pera soon, league sources said.
Iowa Energy GM Chris Makris is well-regarded within the Grizzlies organization and expected to also meet with the owner. The D-League franchise is affiliated with the Grizzlies.
Another top candidate for the job, Brooklyn Nets assistant GM Bobby Marks, recently removed his name from consideration, sources said.
It’s good that the Grizzlies are making the progress that they are making. They definitely don’t want to go into training camp without a permanent general manager and it looks like that will not be the case. I would expect them to make a hiring within the next 30-45 days at the very least.
