Grizzlies close to hiring former Nuggets coach Jeff Bzdelik

According to a report by ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Grizzlies are close to hiring former Nuggets head coach Jeff Bzdelik:

Bzdelik would be coming on as an assistant coach.  He has spent 17 years in the NBA, while serving various roles.  He was also the head coach in Denver before being fired two and a half years in.

He coached at the college level with various programs as well, where he amassed a total record of 160–179.  He was most recently coaching at Wake Forest, where he was unable to find much success.

Bzdelik’s has been around the game his entire life, and he knows the NBA.  As an assistant, he will be able to share his experience with the players without having to take on the heavy burden of head coaching duties.

Other Grizzlies coaching staff include Elston Turner, Duane Ticknor, Bob Thornton, and Shawn Respert.  Head coach Dave Joerger seems to be spearheading the decision.
