Search for new Grizzlies GM could come to a halt
According to Zach Lowe, the Grizzlies might stop searching for a new GM:
Lowe also noted that the Grizzlies could end up promoting someone internally:
Memphis and owner Robert Pera might be best served to take the process slowly, since they don’t appear to have any major moves impending at the moment.
Current GM Chris Wallace has shored up the roster with re-signings and by bringing Vince Carter aboard. At this point it looks as if the Grizzlies’ roster is firmly in place, but injuries and other situations could lead to some pieces moving. Tayshaun Prince has also been a hot topic in potential trade conversations, since he has $7 million left on his contract this year and his play is declining as well.
This has been a long, and somewhat disappointing search for a new hire in Memphis, but it could end up being for the best. The number of candidates have been lessening as the search has progressed, and it could be due to the ambiguity of the position’s duties. The Grizzlies are in no rush to make any major roster moves, and finding a new GM-in-waiting can wait for a bit too.
