The Grizzlies have finally made a decision on who their new general manager will be. After interviewing several candidates and making the rounds, the team has decided to remove the interim tag from Chris Wallace and sign him to a multiple-year deal to be their general manager. Via Yahoo! Sports:
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Grizzlies controlling owner Robert Pera has removed the interim tag and named Chris Wallace as Memphis’ general manager, signing him to a multi-year contract keeping him with the franchise.
This is obviously great new for the franchise as it finally creates a feeling of stability and order in the organization. A team without a coach or a general manager has a hard time finding a sense of identity and continuity. Now that they have their man, the organization can more fully get to work and focus on bringing a championship to the wonderful city of Memphis.
The Grizzlies have already had a successful offseason when it comes to personnel moves, but this move really solidifies things. It shows that they are confident with the direction that Wallace has already taken them and that they are confident that he will continue to make the right moves and decisions for the organization.
