Former Grizzly Rudy Gay replaces Kevin Durant on Team USA

Rudy Gay will fill the void on Team USA

While Kevin Durant has taken himself off of the Team USA roster, former Memphis Grizzly Rudy Gay will take his place.  Gay is a very solid replacement for Durant and he can actually do a lot of the things Durant does, but is not as potent a scorer.  Without Durant, the Team USA roster is still very strong, and stands as follows:

Team USA Roster

Given that some high caliber players like LeBron James, Dwight Howard, and now Kevin Durant aren’t wanting to participate in international competition, this roster is still very strong.

As far as how Rudy Gay’s time in Memphis went–Although Gay had a great career while in Memphis, the Grizzlies felt more comfortable moving on without him.  They traded him to Toronto, where he spent two half seasons, and was then traded to the Kings last year.  Gay has been known as a fringe superstar, but has never quite reached that level.  Hopefully he can continue to elevate his game and have a strong showing for Team USA.
