Hakim Warrick will try out for Grizzlies’ division rival
Former Memphis Grizzlies’ first round draft pick Hakim Warrick will work out for the San Antonio Spurs according to a report:
Hakim Warrick will work out for the San Antonio Spurs on Sept. 1.
Warrick is not guaranteed a contract with the Spurs, but he will have an opportunity against some current Spurs players and free agents.
Warrick said he accepted the Spurs’ invitation because San Antonio has some players with non-guaranteed deals.
Warrick last played in the NBA during the 2012-13 season with the Bobcats.
Warrick played in Memphis for four years, and will look to play in the NBA for the first time since 2013. Despite finding moderate success with the Grizzlies, Warrick was considered a bit of a disappointment, as he didn’t seem to reach his full potential.
If he were to play with the Southwest division rival Spurs, he would likely receive limited minutes off the bench.
