The Memphis Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol has officially inked his new contract and it is time to celebrate in M-Town, which will begin on Tuesday.
As you probably know by now, NBA All-Star center Marc Gasol will be continuing his tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies after agreeing to sign a maximum contract in which the Grizz offered him last week.
On Monday, Big Spain officially signed the contract. While exact terms of the deal have not been announced, Grizz Nation should know for sure by tomorrow afternoon.
Why is that?
The Memphis Grizzlies have scheduled a press conference regarding a “major announcement” at the FedEx Forum for Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 at 12:00 noon. This is where the Grizz will speak to the media, along with Gasol, about the new contract and the reasons as to why Big Spain chose to stay in the 901. The Grizzlies’ Twitter account made the information available on Monday.
The contract, from what has been made known thus far, is for five years while being valued at greater than $100 million. It is probably closer to $110 million or even the rumored $113 million. With the way Gasol affects the game on both ends of the floor–not to mention all of his community work, too–he is truly worth every penny.

Gasol’s signing of a massive new deal to remain with the Grizzlies solidifies their chances of being a top threat in the Western Conference for at least the next several years. This most definitely keeps their championship hopes and dreams alive.
While the franchise may have a few other areas to address on their roster, they took care of business this summer by achieving their No. 1 goal of the offseason–retaining Marc Gasol.
While other NBA teams have seen their franchise cornerstones switch teams, such as Portland with LaMarcus Aldridge, Big Spain remained faithful to his home away from home. He could have very well went to a team such as the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, or San Antonio Spurs, but he showed his loyalty to the Grizzlies and the city of Memphis.
Now, Marc is Memphis.
Grizz Nation, come out to the Grindhouse on Tuesday to see Marc Gasol, congratulate him, and party on Beale Street! This is a great time for all of the Memphis Grizzlies’ fans to show their appreciation for Big Spain!
