With the NBA’s offseason coming to a close, what will the month of September offer to fans of the Memphis Grizzlies in terms of team news?

In what annually seems like an eternity, the NBA’s offseason is nearing an end. There is approximately one month until the beginning of training camp, which will lead directly into preseason play across the association.

What can Grizz Nation expect in the upcoming month of September?

Hint: It really will not be that slow for Grizz-related news.

Beginning with injury reports, news on the status of individual Grizz players should be made known soon.

For instance, guard Beno Udrih underwent ankle surgery at the beginning of the offseason. Although he is back to training for the season, how stable is that ankle? Will he be able to play 20 minutes per night at the beginning of the season if necessary?

Also, will the Grizzlies move forward with signing second round draft pick Andrew Harrison to an official contract? It could happen, although after a somewhat disappointing summer league showcase, Harrison will likely play himself in or out of a contract offer following a full training camp and NBA preseason. His early jitters of summer league may be pushed aside by then and Grizz Nation could soon see the real offerings of AH.

Training camp for the Grizzlies as well as all other 29 NBA franchises will begin as soon as September ends and October jumpstarts. While Memphis has signed one player–Michael Holyfield–to their training camp roster, they will surely have several other names to add to that precise list in the coming weeks. They may not retain any of these training camp invitees, but they will give the Grizzlies’ vets and youth some solid competition.

Last but not least, there is always the slight chance the Memphis Grizzlies could sign another reserve to bolster their bench by the means of increasing the team’s scoring/shooting threat. If the right guy for the job is still on the Free-Agency market and is looking to sign on before the season tips, Grizz Nation should not be too surprised by a last-minute addition. However, outside of a few camp invites, the final roster is probably set.

It will not be long until starters and rotations are solidified for the Grizz, but for now, Grizz Nation, let the rumors and speculation continue.
