“With Mike Conley — who was leading the Grizzlies in scoring (19.2 points per game), assists (5.7) and three-point shooting (2.5 makes at 46.7%) — expected to miss the next six weeks, the Grizzlies have an undoubtedly rough road ahead.”

Conley’s absence will be a true test, but so far the guys have…passed. (Ha, point guard pun!)

Sports Illustrated: No. 14

“No Mike Conley for a while is rough, but instead of harping on that, let’s give some love to Tony Allen for an incredible week. Go watch the fourth quarter of last week’s Grizzlies-Magic game.”

Although SI doesn’t harp on it, Conley’s loss is a big reason for the drop all around this week. The Grindfather is still amazing though!

Hoops Habit: No. 14

“On the brighter side of things, how about Troy Daniels making the most of his opportunity? His career-high 31 points off the bench was the reason Memphis enjoyed its first “blessing,” and he’s averaging 23 points per game over the Grizzlies’ last three games.”

Troy Daniels has been a blessing. Him stepping up truly is a “blessing” as Hoops Habit put it and hopefully this trend continues!

CBS: No. 15

“Lost Mike Conley to a freak injury, which is just brutal and cruel. They won their last two, but you know they’re going to lose more than they win without their best player.”

CBS, shhhh.

ESPN: No. 11

“New coach, same stubborn resilience we saw last season when the Grizzlies scrapped their way into the playoffs despite employing an NBA-record 28 players. All David Fizdale’s Grizzlies have done since the crushing loss of Mike Conley is squeak out home wins over the Magic and Lakers by a combined four points and generate this touching picture to try to boost the spirits of a grieving Zach Randolph.”

“You can’t lock up the Grit-N-Grind!”

13-8. Previous: . Memphis Grizzlies. 13. team. 211. The loss of Mike Conley sucks, to say the least. There have been some bright spots, however. The imminent return of Zach Randolph should help and after that, hopefully more players join him on the active list.
