In an interview with Grind City Media’s Mike Wallace, the Grizzlies Chandler Parsons opened up about criticism, health and trusting the process.

Let’s be honest, the anti-Chandler Parsons conversation amongst Grizzlies fans is at an all-time high. His minutes are low, solely due to an unwavering minutes restriction. Late game appearances are so few I can count them on one hand.

Nonetheless, the peanut gallery is speaking loud and clear – “Chandler Parsons is a waste of Money.”

Earlier today (Feb. 5), Parsons joined Mike Wallace (@MyMikeCheck on twitter) on the ‘Grind City Getup’ podcast to open up regarding his season so far in Memphis. The emphasis? His health and the criticism he’s receiving.

Grind City’s 6-foot-10 forward with guard capabilities and unique floor vision admitted right away that his shot is ‘just not there’, followed by determination that it will come. He followed that, mentioning that his knee is getting much stronger, and he fully expects to be playing his best basketball come time for the playoffs.

Parsons’ segment is just a few minutes long, and it’s right at the beginning of the podcast.

Here it is:

Nothin’ new

The consensus opinion on the sharp-shooter says he’s just coasting through the season – without getting any better at all.

Speaking with Wallace, his answers were quite the contrary:

"“Going through this is Dallas last year helps me to not get as frustrated this time with the minutes restrictions,” Parsons said. “I’m used to playing high minutes, and playing in the fourth quarter… it’s all stuff you have to go through to get to the success at the end.”"

Parsons continued by saying his past experiences with injuries have helped him mentally prepare for the remainder of the season – focusing on the outcome instead of the moments at hand.

Later in the interview, the sharp-shooter made it very clear why he belongs in Memphis. He stated that even though his playing time is slim, he’s still in recovery mode and his shot is struggling – that’s not what it’s about.

"“Whether it’s making shots or not making shots, whatever it takes right now is what I’m going to do. I play basketball for a living, I’m always going to smile about that.”"

One of the most dynamic guard/forward combinations landed in Memphis, Tennessee to build a Grizzlies Parsons relationship for four years.

Home court advantage in the playoffs is RIGHT THERE for the taking. And a healthy Chandler Parsons is a very important piece to a Western Conference Finals puzzle.
