In a must-win game last night, Mike Conley orchestrated the Grizzlies, scoring 36 points and leading the team to a 110-97 win over the Indiana Pacers

After a rough four-game road trip, this game was a must win for the Grizzlies to get back on track before the playoffs. They were in search of a hero and found one in “Captain Clutch,” Mike Conley.

Conley ended the first quarter with 16 points (dammmmn), leading the Grizzlies to 38 points first quarter points, tying the mark for most points in a quarter this season.

Because Marc Gasol was out of action, Mike Conley had to be the guy, and he was just that. He continued his elite level production last night with 36 points, three rebounds, six assists and four steals.

If you missed last night’s game, here’s all the highlights from Mike’s big game:

Mike Conley was batman last night. Batman always needs a Robin. Well his Robin was Vince Carter, who is 40 years old (if you didn’t know). Carter scored 21 points, going 4-for-6 from 3-point land. Vince continues to give Father Time a huge middle finger.

Brandan Wright and Zach Randolph both had solid games to fill in for Gasol and JaMychal Green. Wright scored 13 points on a solid 6-for-10 shooting. Z-Bo continued his Sixth Man of the Year campaign, adding 17 points off the bench.

Major Keys

There are two keys for the Grizzlies:

  1. Make shots.
  2. Be engaged on the defensive of the ball.

If they’re doing those two things, they usually win basketball games.

The Grizzlies shot well over 50 percent from the field last night for majority of the game. However, they dropped to 47 percent, after missing a lot of shots during garbage time.

The Grizzlies also played great on the defensive ball as well. They forced someone else besides Paul George to beat them, and the Pacers couldn’t capitalize.

The only starter outside of George to score in double-digits was Thaddeus Young (16 points).

Final Remarks

Hopefully, this win serve as a spark for the Grizzlies to find their niche before the playoffs. If they can find a way to consistently play that way, watch out, Western Conference.

The squad has seven games left, and five are at home.

Finish out the season strong, Grizz.
