After a three game skid, last night Mike Conley and the Grizzlies cruised past the Knicks in a 101-88 victory.

The story of the night for the Grizzlies was Mike Conley, also known as one-eyed Charlie.

Last night Conley came out guns blazing out, after sitting out in Wednesday’s match-up with Oklahoma City because of a collision with Kawhi Leonard ended in a huge gash right above his eye.

Last night, Conley picked up right where he left off draining his first three shots. By the way, they were all three pointers too. He finished the game with 31 points, six assists and three rebounds.

Mike also had a tremendous game beyond the arc, finishing 7-for-11 from the three-point line.

Marc Gasol was the next highest scorer for the Grizzlies, ending the night with 16 points.

All five starters ended in double-digits – the first time this has happened for the Grizzlies since the December 10th win over the Golden State Warriors at home.

The third quarter was a bit of the struggle for the Grizzlies, which has been the case all season.

The Grizz were outscored 25-17 in the third quarter and the Knicks were able to cut a 6 deficit at halftime to a 70-66 lead at one point.

The momentum quickly changed when Wayne Selden Jr. threw down a nasty dunk to cut the lead 70-68. After that, the Grizzlies seemed to have gain a spark.

Here’s a clip, just incase you did not great to witness this amazing dunk:

The Grizzlies pumbled the Knicks in the fourth quarter out scoring the guys from New York 31-16 in the fourth quarter.

The Grizzlies went 7-for-11 from the three-point line in the fourth quarter and concluded the night with a total of 15 three-pointers on a specactular 56 percent from beyond the arc.

A Date With San Antonio

After last night’s win, the Grizzlies clinched a date with the Spurs in the first round.

This will be a rematch of last year’s first round match up. The only difference is the Grizzlies aren’t rolling out Matt Barnes as one of their main scorers (lol).

The last two playoff series with San Antonio haven’t gone well, ending in two big ole’ broom sticks. But this year is different.

They match up with San Antonio better than ever, and could have won the season series against the Spurs if a couple scenarios pan out differently in this past weeks’ matchup.

It’ll be a tough outing no doubt, but the “Core Four” did began their historic run by beating the Spurs in the 2011 playoffs as an eight seed.

Does the “Core Four” end their run together knocking the Spurs off a second time?

Time will tell.

Final Remarks

The Grizzlies will finish up their season next week against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Then the Dallas Mavericks come into town Wednesday for the final game of the year

(that was fast).

These next two games will be basically be tune up games for the playoffs now that the Grizzlies have clinched the seventh seed.

Look for veterans such as Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Vince Carter, and Tony Allen to get some rest these next two games.

This will allow some of the younger guys such as Wade Badlwin and Deyonta Davis to gain experience before the playoffs begin, where they won’t see any minutes.

Until next time, Go Grizz.
