Will the Grizzlies Make the Finals This Year?

Never say never – Justin Bieber. The Grizzlies have as much chance of making the finals as Danny Ferry vacationing over at Luol Deng’s house. 30% of NBA fans don’t think the Grizzlies will make the finals, the other 70% heard they play in Canada. The last time ESPN aired a Memphis Grizzlies game that wasen’t in the Playoffs was.. Just kidding, my friends! There was no last time. If Timmy D decides to take his talents over to Boca midseason, Vince takes chucking notes from JR Smith, and the Grizzlies make another grown man move like Bayless for Courtney Lee. Then yes, there’s a chance.

Odds are they won’t. That by no means makes them a bad team, it just means that the West is still completely stacked. You can never count the reigning champion Spurs out, the Thunder are still a threat, and there are multiple other teams that can push their way into the finals. It’s not impossible, but Memphis might need to add another piece to go all the way.

The odds that the Grizzlies make the NBA Finals is pretty low considering the depth of the Western Conference. With that being said, the Grizzlies are always knocking at the door due to their defense and size in the paint. I don’t see the Grizzlies making the NBA Finals, but I expect them to certainly give one of the top teams in the West a real scare.

Anything is possible at the beginning of the season. I do however think we can make a deep playoff run if the starters stay healthy and the bench gives good production. Get back with me in January with this question.

The Grizzlies did the most they could possibly do this offseason to better an already talented team with a maxed out budget. Vince Carter, Jordan Adams and Jarnell Stokes were great pickups by the team. I personally think the Grizzlies can contend for a championship, but until they get a lights out three point shooter, I don’t see them making a Finals run in 2014.
