5. Houston Rockets
This team confuses the hell out of me. The Houston Rockets have all the talent in the world. Dwight Howard, James Harden, Josh Smith, what’s not to like about this team? One problem that faces the Houston Rockets is their health.
Former defensive player of the year Dwight Howard is out at least another six weeks with a knee injury. The lack of depth on the Rockets front court is quite apparent in his absence. The Rockets have hovered close to the Grizzlies’ for the majority of the season, and sit just three games back of first place.
James Harden won’t be able to carry the weight the rest of the season, and I think Houston will fall off just a bit. This team could be dangerous come playoff time, but they haven’t escaped the first round the past two seasons. A matchup with San Antonio in the first round would be most beneficial for the Rockets.
One of my friends is a Spurs fan, and he said he would be terrified to play Houston in the first round. The health of Dwight Howard will ultimately determine how far they go in the playoffs this year.
Prediction: 53-29
Next three: @ Dallas, vs. Toronto, vs. Minnesota
