A Dying Popular Vote

When asked about the best center in the NBA just a couple years ago, it was nearly a unanimous answer. Dwight Howard. “Superman.” Now, he is not so super.

He is now known as a whiner and a complainer. He has also been experiencing some injuries.

With Dwight’s strength and build, he should never have anything less than 20 points and 10 rebounds in any game–if not 25 points and 15 rebounds.

James Harden is perhaps the most prolific scorer in the NBA this season, so it is understandable as to why Dwight is producing a little less than 20 points per game. If Howard could become a decent free-throw shooter, there is no doubt his PPG average would rise.

However, DH12 is grabbing boards at an excellent rate–11.0 per contest. He also shoots higher from the field than Gasol–because Howard does not exactly shoot!

Dwight Howard, for the most part, can still only dunk as his go-to move. Ever since fighting his way to take the Orlando Magic to the 2009 NBA Finals, he has not added any other offensive moves except for cheap hook shots. Still no jumpshot. Very average passer/playmaker.

If DH ever finds his old motivation, he may retain his old title as the NBA’s top center, but not with “Do-It-All Gasol” roaming the paint in 2015.
