Captain Clutch

Vince Carter, in his first season with Memphis, brought the spark in December when the Grizzlies faced the eventual top-seeded team in the entire NBA. It was a home court affair in which Grizz Nation saw the game break open after VC nailed multiple threes, leading to 16 points in the second quarter–off the bench! Memphis absolutely needs this type of performance from Carter in order to fulfill their title hopes.

Mike Conley led a monster comeback on the road by the Memphis Grizzlies against the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime. Conley had a huge game statistically, too–scoring 36 points and tallying nine assists in the win. This only added to the legend of “Clutch Conley!”

Memphis had plenty of overtime games, including a three-overtime victory against rival San Antonio. Remember Marc Gasol’s HUGE banked three-pointer at the buzzer to go into the first buzzer? And all of the big plays and shots made by both teams? View the highlights from the game and all its overtime periods here:

Memphis found themselves in a double-overtime game on the road in Phoenix in which the Grizz pulled out a win. The next time the two teams met, the game narrowly avoided overtime due to newcomer Jeff Green. JG hit a tough shot to topple the Suns by one point! Let us just say that the Suns are now eliminated from playoff contention and they are no fans of the Memphis Grizzlies. At all.

Then there was a questionable no-call on Z-Bo as Houston’s James Harden drove to the basket late in a Rockets-Grizzlies meeting after the All-Star break. Memphis gained possession, leading to an incredible Marc Gasol game-winning jumper–through contact that also went uncalled.
