Former Memphis Grizzlies’ G Crittenton Receives Jail Time

Today, it was made known that former Memphis Grizzlies’ guard Javaris Crittenton has received a 23-year prison sentence for his role in murdering a young woman in 2011.

Javaris Crittenton was an NBA Draft Pick from 2007 when he saw his name selected by the Los Angeles Lakers. He was eventually traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in an infamous transaction. He did not last long with the Grizz and he soon made his way onto the Washington Wizards’ roster, where he began to have his fallout of the league. It has been downhill ever since for the ex-NBA player.

As a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, Crittenton played in two seasons wearing a Grizz uniform, but seeing the floor in just 35 total games. During his time as a Grizzly, he posted averages of 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on 40.5% field goal-shooting.

"Former NBA guard Javaris Crittenton was sentenced to 23 years in prison and 17 years of probation on Wednesday after entering a guilty plea on charges related to the 2011 shooting death of an Atlanta woman.The 27-year-old Crittenton — who played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards guard in a two-year NBA career and is best known by NBA fans for his infamous firearms-in-the-locker-room confrontation with then-Wizards teammate Gilbert Arenas in 2009 — pleaded guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter with a weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm, with prosecutors dropping the a murder charge against him as part of the plea agreement."
