The Memphis Grizzlies play their first game of the 2015 Orlando Summer League on Saturday and the team has announced their roster for games.
The NBA’s Orlando Summer League 2015 is set to begin this upcoming Fourth of July (Saturday) and it will feature your Memphis Grizzlies.
This is the first chance to see the 2015 NBA Draft class in action, including the Memphis Grizzlies’ second round acquisition out of the University of Kentucky, Andrew Harrison. The team’s first round pick out of LSU, Jarell Martin, will not be participating due to having a stress reaction in his foot. He has been showcasing a walking boot on the injured leg; however, he is on schedule to take part in training camp. Martin sitting out of summer league play is purely a precautionary measure.

Not only are the rookies a main attraction of the Orlando Summer League–which features 10 total teams this year–but rather, for fans of the Memphis Grizzlies, a solid look at the development of the franchise’s youthful contributors.
Are you wondering how far Jarnell Stokes has come since this time last season? Want to see how impressive of a scorer Russ Smith can become when given a chance? Will Jordan Adams take over and show that he is the best player in the summer league? Is JaMychal Green the most well-rounded player, skill-wise, on the squad? These questions will all be answered within the next week.

With a limited number of roster spots available for the Memphis Grizzlies, it is very likely that a couple of these guys mentioned above will not last beyond training camp, though they have all been truly deserving of a guaranteed position. It could very well be a grit-‘n’-grind affair as all of the Grizzlies’ young guys battle it out to show the Front Office who is the best of the best. Essentially none of these guys’ spots on the team are guaranteed–except for maybe Jordan Adams’–due to the Grizz having a very deep club heading into the 2015-16 season.
Also, will veteran Vince Carter take part in the Orlando Summer League?! Yes, this is a serious question. He lives in Orlando, Florida in the offseason and has been working out and practicing with the young Grizzlies the past couple of days. In order to “stay young,” he could very well decide to play a few minutes in some of the team’s games.
The full roster–excluding Carter–can be found HERE.
