The Memphis Grizzlies’ latest addition via Free-Agency, Brandan Wright, quickly signed his new contract immediately after the clock struck 12 at midnight.
The NBA’s moratorium period ended at midnight and all verbal agreements were able to be made into a reality at 12:01 A.M. on Thursday.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been anticipating official signatures from two key players–one new face and another that should be very familiar to Grizz Nation and the city of Memphis.
The players? Power forward/center Brandan Wright and All-Star center Marc Gasol to be exact.
Wright played no games with locking in with the Grizzlies. He quickly signed his new three-year, $18 million contract just minutes after midnight to make his deal official. He even posted this image to his Twitter account as soon as completed the forms.
"Done deal!"
During the day on Thursday, the Memphis Grizzlies added these photos to their Twitter account from last night of Wright signing on the dotted line.
It is awesome to see a new guy on the team already focused on the team–showing his excitement for a chance at a title run in his home state. Brandan Wright will be the first big off the bench while being capable of backing up the power forward and center positions.
Speaking of the starting center position, when will Marc Gasol officially sign his maximum contract offer?
No details have been announced as to when Big Spain will officially sign his papers, but it is as good as a done deal. He has already filled the Commercial Appeal in on the details–five years and $113 million. Will they have a special press conference just to describe the terms of the details? You would think so; however, do not be surprised if the Grizzlies do not host one.
Marc is a laid-back person and he loves the city of Memphis. He is no stranger to the town and he is excited to be back. Neither party is in a rush this offseason and both the Memphis Grizzlies’ Front Office and Marc Gasol are on the exact same page. Marc will remain in a Grizzly uniform and whether or not there is a press conference is up to him. So relax, Grizz Nation. Big Spain is back for more!
It took a while for Grizz Nation to gain any new information regarding Marc Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies reaching an agreement on a new deal.
Brandan Wright Press Conference
For our readers that are located in or around the city of Memphis, Tennessee, the Memphis Grizzlies will be hosting a press conference with Brandan Wright to formally introduce him to the community. If you would like to meet him and greet him to Grizz Nation, the Grizzlies have a time and place set for the opportunity. The details are as follows:
If you attend, give Brandan a warm welcome and show him how much Grizz Nation loves their players!
Other Signings
Will the Memphis Grizzlies sign any other free-agents? Or will they look to make a trade or two?
It is all up in the air right now. At this current time, the roster will need to be trimmed a little in order to meet the league-maximum of 15 players on the roster. The Grizz could really use a solid scorer and/or outside shooter to bolster their bench while strengthening the team’s offensive punch, but they may decide to stick with the guys they already have and try their hand at the odds. Their roster has already made an upgrade in comparison to last season’s group of players.
Do you think the Memphis Grizzlies should add another veteran to their roster? What do you think of their offseason moves thus far? Let us know!
