After many changes to rosters throughout the NBA this summer, especially in the Southwest Division, have the Memphis Grizzlies done enough to compete?
The Southwest Division of the National Basketball Association consists of the following five teams: Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs.
That is undoubtedly an extremely competitive list of franchises. Yes, all five of those teams made the eight-team Western Conference Playoffs. Such a scenario is an incredibly rare occurrence and the sports world witnessed it in the 2014-15 season.
Each of these fives clubs have been major players this offseason in free-agent signings, contract re-signings, and trades. With all of this player movement, the Memphis Grizzlies have been able to keep their classic core intact. Have they made enough moves to earn the top spot in the division? As the Grizz look to earn their first divisional title in franchise history–along with a world championship–have they made enough of the proper moves to keep up with their close enemies?
Beale Street Bears will now analyze the offseason decisions of these five teams.
Please move through the following slides in order to see how the Memphis Grizzlies’ moves and additions this offseason compare to their closest foes of the Southwest Division.
