The Memphis Grizzlies should be welcoming a major change to the NBA schedule for the 2015-16 regular season.

It is now August and the 2015-16 NBA season tips off with training camp in less than two months. Where is the schedule?

It has not been released yet. The schedule typically drops at around this time in the NBA’s offseason, but there has been no definite date (as of August 4th) for a planned release.

Players throughout the association are wondering about the schedule the same as Memphis Grizzlies’ fans and NBA fans across the world.

The Washington Wizards’ Jared Dudley made a tweet today in this regard:

One major bit of news has already been made known. According to NBC Sports, the NBA has “nearly eliminated four-games-in-five-nights” scenarios, which will mark a significant alteration of the NBA schedule. These scenarios have been a popular sequence of gameplay in the association since the league expanded their schedule to 82 regular season matches.

This move by the NBA should definitely help with resting players a little more as well as reducing the quantity of injuries seen throughout the year. Again, not all of the four-games-in-five-nights scenarios will be removed (for now), but it is assumed that there will be far less of them as we all prepare for next season.

Not only will all players benefit from this in terms of their health, but it will really help the oldest of squads in the league. Clubs such as the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs will be the most thankful around the NBA for this particular decision.

In the 2015 NBA Playoffs, the Memphis Grizzlies saw Marc Gasol having tired and battered legs and ankles. The same could have been said for Mike Conley, Jeff Green, Tony Allen, Zach Randolph, and others. The veterans needed a small amount of extra rest in order to perform at their peak.

Perhaps the 2015-16 schedule will now allow them to be more energized to give their absolute best shot at a trip to the NBA Finals.

Any additional rest should be welcomed by all NBA players and teams alike. Less injuries and increased performance levels should be desired by all parties.

Expect the schedule to still be a couple weeks away from official release due to this major change, which will require full support from all executives in the NBA.
