5. Demetrius Jackson

The Memphis Grizzlies are in a point guard limbo right now. Starting point guard Mike Conley is an unrestricted free agent that could walk away from Memphis for nothing in return. Backup point guard Mario Chalmers ruptured his Achilles and was waived the next day.

With the Memphis Grizzlies relying on NBA journeyman Jordan Farmar and undrafted rookie Xavier Munford to handle point guard duties in their injury-riddled playoff run, they might be wise to pick a point guard to invest in for their future.

Demetrius Jackson took over the point guard position during his junior year at Notre Dame, after Jerian Grant went to the NBA. In his lone season running the point, his field goal and 3-point percentage plummeted from 50 percent  to 45 percent  and 43 percent to 33 percent.

Because of his stellar 3-point shooting off the ball, he can work on the court with Mike Conley.

Jackson’s athleticism and explosiveness will bring a different dynamic to the Memphis Grizzlies. He brings a faster dimension that can work in a second unit composed of Jackson, Jordan Adams, Lance Stephenson (if brought back), Jamychal Green, and Brandan Wright.

The fact that he doesn’t possess the size of Baldwin or Dunn lowers his draft stock, but he makes up for his height (6’0″) with a long wingspan (6’5″) and explosive athleticism.

If Conley returns to the Memphis Grizzlies, Jackson can polish his game by learning from one of the best floor generals in the game.
