5. Pau Gasol

Surely, Pau Gasol fills the hole at the wing. However, signing Pau Gasol would open a lot of opportunities.

Signing Gasol will give Conley another high-post playmaker, as he averaged 4.1 assists per game last season. Pairing him with his brother Marc will make Memphis a very difficult to team to score on in the paint.

Signing Pau could lead to a Zach Randolph trade which could lead to acquiring a solid wing. Good trade options would be Terrance Ross, Danilo Gallinari or Wilson Chandler.

The Grizzlies could get Pau Gasol on a team-friendly deal, something in the neighborhood of three years and $18 million. If they want to keep Randolph too, they could unload backup center Brandan Wright for a wing. This action would give the Grizzlies plenty of lineup options.

They could go Pau-Marc, Pau-Zach, Marc-Zach, or pair any of those three big men with either Jarrell Martin, JaMychal Green or Deyonta Davis.

If the Grizzlies could find a way to keep Conley and sign Pau Gasol without giving up other core members, they will become a tough out in the playoffs. However, signing Pau Gasol must be followed up with a trade for a starting-caliber small forward.
