Honorable Mention: Mario Chalmers

Mario Chalmers is a familiar name for most Memphis Grizzlies fan.

The Grizzlies made an early-season trade for Chalmers, and he became an instant spark plug and fan favorite.

In 55 games with the Memphis Grizzlies, Chalmers averaged 10.8 points, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals and shot 32.6 percent from 3.

The two strongest parts of his game were his ability to get to the free throw line and his willingness to lead in the big moment (Sorry, Memphians, for the terrible flashback).

Sadly, for Chalmers, he ruptured his Achilles mid-season and was waived by the Grizzlies. If he did not get injured, he may have been another lucky recipient of a solid payday.

The reasoning behind the “honorable mention” behind Chalmers is the achilles. When he is ready to return to action, he will most likely land with a team mid-season.

If the Memphis Grizzlies are not getting quality production from incumbent backup point guards Wade Baldwin IV and Andrew Harrison, a Chalmers return could be in the fold.

It is hard to gauge his fit with his injury. If he comes close to his old self, he will be solid insurance for Mike Conley and provide a desperate-needed punch off the bench, the kind of spark to strengthen the Memphis Grizzlies’ chances for attaining a top 4 seed.
