Who’s ahead of him?

If you’ve made it this far, you obviously care about arbitrary ranking of a NBA head coach! Good! Let’s see who’s ahead of Coach Fizdale. The shortlist includes:

  • 29. Nate McMillan, Indiana Pacers
  • 28. Earl Watson, Phoenix Suns
  • 27. Alvin Gentry, New Orleans Pelicans
  • 26. Jeff Hornacek, New York Knicks
  • 25. Scott Brooks, Washington Wizards
  • 24. Brett Brown, Philadelphia 76ers

I’m not going to jump higher than 24 currently (maybe we revisit this after the season ends), since I do partially agree that having zero head coaching experience does make it a little harder to judge potential. But, even with no experience, Fizdale’s team is at the very least definitely going to have a better season than four out of those six teams.

Now, I know that better record ≠ better coach. Teams are built differently and coaching is just one part of the machine. Injuries can ruin a teams season and be no one’s fault. That being said, records do hold some weight, alongside ability to manage personnel. In no particular order, we’ll look at these coaches.
