Winning in NBA 2K is always satisfying. If you want to best your arch nemesis, best friend or random online opponent, here’s how to do it at the helm of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Beale Street Bears’ 2KDay: Part 5

*WARNING: This article may be a disclaimer to those that are not as good as me in NBA 2K17.*

NBA 2K17 just came out, and every one is looking for their go-to team. Some look to infuriate their friends by picking the Golden State Warriors or Cleveland Cavaliers. Personally, I could beat just about anyone with 27 of the 30 teams. Which team could give your opponent fits? The Memphis Grizzlies.

I played as the Memphis Grizzlies against their archival, the Los Angeles Clippers. Gladly, I overcame the Clippers with a 71-63 win (on All-Star difficulty). Yes, the Clippers have a higher rating than the Grizzlies. However, there is a way to beat any team with the Memphis Grizzlies.

1. Feed Marc Gasol

Granted, his stat line was not sexy (9/4/5), but he is tough to stop. As a 7’1″ 260-pound big man, he is already unblockable. He has a beautiful mid-range touch and his high pick-and-rolls with Mike Conley are very extremely efficient.

Even against the defensive talent of DeAndre Jordan, Gasol was able to do some damage.

In addition to his beautiful post game, his passing ability makes life so much easier for the wings. Out of the post, he could either hit Conley or Parsons open for 3 or a cutting Tony Allen.

Manipulating the offense around their 85 overall center will go a long way for the Memphis Grizzlies.

2. Get Chandler Parsons and Mike Conley open

The Memphis Grizzlies have not been known for their 3-point abilities. Now, with the additions of Chandler Parsons, James Ennis, Troy Daniels and Wade Baldwin IV, it’s possible to keep up in a 3-point shootout.

Chandler Parsons has been my favorite player in NBA 2K17 so far. It helps that he is on the Memphis Grizzlies, but his 3-point game is deadly. Like D’Angelo Russell “ice in my veins” deadly.

I scored 18 points and drained all four of my 3-point attempts with Chandler Parsons.

Mike Conley, on the other hand, is a guy you have to get open. At 6’1,” he won’t get shots off against a lot of guys, but when he is open, it will go in. I scored 11 points on 1-for-3 shooting from 3. However, in my two 3-point misses, there was a man on him.

Even though I did hit some 3s with James Ennis and Troy Daniels, Mike Conley and Chandler Parsons are major keys on the perimeter. If you get them open, you will have a field day.

3. Generate assists

The Memphis Grizzlies don’t have lots of shot creators. With Conley, Parsons and Gasol as primary playmakers, putting up buckets is a piece of cake. I assisted on18 of my 26 field goal attempts. I dished out seven and five assists with Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, respectively.

Hitting the ball to the open man leads to buckets at the paint. Other tip that relates: run the pick-and-roll with Brandan Wright. I ran a beautiful pick-and-roll with Wade Baldwin and Brandan Wright for a nasty alley-oop.

Because the Memphis Grizzlies don’t have plenty of shot creators, you have to generate assists to get buckets.

Will you win with the Memphis Grizzlies?

I, sincerely, hope all these tips will help you dominate with the Memphis Grizzlies. If they don’t, you either aren’t good at using the Memphis Grizzlies or NBA 2K17. If you are not good at NBA 2K17, invest your time in FIFA or the great outdoors.
