Into the Bears’ Den: picking NBA teams’ over/under from Vegas projections
By Ian Pierno
DALLAS MAVERICKS: 39.5
Parker Fleming: OVER. Deron Williams is still an adequate starting point guard. Harrison Barnes will be out to prove that he can be a go-to guy. Andrew Bogut is one of the best rim protectors and passing big men in the game. Dirk defies Father Time. Wes Matthews still has his bow and arrow from downtown. Rick Carlisle is a top-5 coach. I’m taking the over.
Ryan Snellings: OVER. Really, Vegas? Dirk and Rick Carlisle are a great pair and they made additions that should bring them up to the middle of the pack out west. Barnes has to be better than he was in the Finals, but Wes Matthews’ shooting and Bogut’s defense should make this a hard matchup for many teams.
Taylor Buckley: UNDER. Even with the Warriors’ sloppy seconds, I don’t think they will muster up more than 39 wins. Look for them to sit right around 37 wins at the end of the year.
Ryan Schmitz: OVER. Dirk is going to put this team on his back, Harrison Barnes may not be worth max money, but he will play better than last year and Carlisle will work his magic again on this team. I think the West will be fun and include these Mavs with the Grizzlies and Trail Blazers as teams that could upset and bust NBA Playoffs brackets in the west.
Ian Pierno: UNDER. I’m going to regret this.
Jacob Collins: OVER. #CarlisleDevilMagic
