The Memphis Grizzlies (10-6) had their six-game win streak snapped Friday night, dropping a 90-81 decision to the Miami Heat (5-10).

The Memphis Grizzlies never got things started against the Miami Heat, failing to ever take the lead in a 90-81 loss at the FedEx Forum on Friday night.

Coming into the game shorthanded due to injuries to Chandler Parsons, Brandan Wright and James Ennis and a personal leave of absence for Zach Randolph, the Grizzlies rolled out an underwhelming starting lineup of Andrew Harrison, Troy Daniels, Tony Allen, JaMychal Green and Marc Gasol.

Mike Conley was available to play, but was brought off the bench as a coach’s decision.

Miami’s Tyler Johnson was the star of the night, leading all players with  22 points off the pine.

Quick Hits

Dion Waiters (yes, that Dion Waiters) recorded an insanely high +/- of +21 in 35 on the court.

More from Beale Street Bears

Tyler Johnson, who led all players in scoring, had a +/- of only +1 in 33 minutes.

Mike Conley only played 23 minutes, leading the Grizzlies with 16 points.

Hassan Whiteside was a non-factor on offense, only scoring four points, but did manage to grab 12 rebounds.

Jarrell Martin grabbed 12 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

The loss snapped the Memphis Grizzlies’ five-game home winning streak against the Miami Heat.

Wade Baldwin IV made his return from the Iowa Energy, scoring five points and grabbing one rebound in 13 minutes.

I’m still not convinced Andrew Harrison is the answer at backup point guard. He did drop seven assists and only had two turnovers, but when 0-for-8 from the field.

Deyonta Davis impressed in his 15 minutes of playing time. Davis only scored four points, but grabbed five boards and had two blocks.

Troy Daniels is still terrible. Let’s ship this guy to Ukraine and have D.J. Stephens back, please.

Good Tony vs. Bad Tony

Here we are again with the love-hate relationship with Tony Allen. Allen routinely was on the wrong side of gambles aimed at forcing turnovers, consistently being cooked by Dion Waiters. His +/- of -19 was the worst of any player on the floor.

Highlight reel Troy Williams

The undrafted rookie out of Indiana had nine points and six rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench, but more importantly, had some stellar highlight plays in an otherwise lackluster game.

The Memphis Grizzlies take on the Miami Heat tomorrow night, this time in south beach.
