Yesterday, Chandler Parsons headed to “Chancun” for the All-Star break, which has brought up some heated discussion.

When the All-Star break goes on, the ones not participating in the festivities go on vacation and for good reason. They have a week to re-boot for the final stretch. So, vacationing is okay, right?

Apparently it’s not for Chandler Parsons!

Man, I didn’t know a grown man couldn’t go on a vacation?

Meanwhile, Chandler Parsons is turning the “All-Star Break” into his personal Spring Break to go to Cancun … I mean, “Chancun.”

Despite his struggles, here’s why “Chancun” is the perfect gateway for Parsons.

Re-charge

Look people, it’s the All-Star break. Let the man live his life. He’s literally doing what every other NBA player is doing during the all-star break.

Some may say: “Well, he needs to get in the gym.” Or, “he does’t care about the game.”

How do you know he doesn’t care? Are you friends with him? Do you talk to him on a daily basis? Didn’t think so either.

Parsons may flaunt his life publicly live on social media, but by any means that doesn’t imply that he doesn’t care about basketball.

The best thing for Parsons is to get away and not think about basketball for a little bit. With all the criticism going around him, he should want to get away.

With a trip like this, he can recharge mentally and physically as he prepares for more minutes in the last half of the season.

Fresh Chandler Parsons = Good Chandler Parsons?

In the first half in the season with the Dallas Mavericks, Parsons had some struggles. Later in the season, he started to become healthier and became himself.

With the Mavericks, here are some fun numbers:

January: 16.1 points (51.0/43.8/68.0 shooting), 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

February: 18.8 points (52.3/48.0/84.8), 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

March: 16.2 points (48.7/41.7/70.6), 6.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

That’s a scary good Chandler Parsons.

This trip could allow him to just forget about everything and come back with a clear head and a fresh body.

I cannot guarantee you that he will be the same Parsons he was in Dallas. However, he will be a guy that can knock down open threes, spread the floor and take pressure off both Mike and Marc.

The shots are going to start to fall, and you will see why the Grizzlies signed Parsons. His career field goal percentage is 46.8 percent, and his career three-point percentage is 37.5 percent.

He can shoot the basketball. He just needs to be fresh.

Patience

Parsons probably won’t find his niche right out the break either. Parsons was set back by a bone bruise on his non-surgically repaired knee.

That injury probably puts him some games back from finding his rhythm. By late March and early April, right before the playoffs roll around, you’re going to see a healthy Chandler Parsons..

He saw the potential this team had with Marc Gasol and Mike Conley had as the centerpieces of the franchise and realized he could be the missing piece of this puzzle.

A healthy Chandler Parsons that is averaging around 15 points a game next to Conley’s 19.3 points a game and Gasol’s 20.6 points a game can take the Grizz deep into the playoffs.

Maybe instead of bashing for Parsons going on a trip to get his mind off basketball, allow him to rejuvenate and come back a better player than he has been up to this point.

If Parsons doesn’t come around by the end of the season, maybe we can have a different discussion. But for now, give it time. This isn’t you coming back from a minor ankle sprain to play in your recreational YMCA league game. Give him a break.

Parsons is in his 20’s with millions of dollars and can do whatever he wants.

He’s going on a trip to Chancun (I love saying that if you don’t know) during the All-Star break. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!

He hasn’t been a problem in the locker room, and the guys on the team love Chandler.
