Welcome to Grind City View’s Weekly Power Rankings, Beale Street Bears’ roundup of the where the Memphis Grizzlies fall in national power rankings.

HoopsHabit – No. 10

“Good thing the Thunder picked the exact same week to experience a mini-skid, since the Memphis Grizzlies just went 1-2 and recorded their only win against Phoenix.”

The Grizzlies are making the playoffs, and they have proven that they can compete with each and every team. Seeding is only a number. Regardless of who they face in the first round, second round, or even the conference finals, they’ll have a tough task ahead of them. Closing out a healthy Memphis team.

CBS Sports – No.11

“The Grizzlies have as few losses vs. teams over .500 as Houston. If they would just stop losing to bad teams, Memphis could have essentially locked a top-four seed by now”

True, but it didn’t happen. No matter. While proving that they can close out games, come from behind, and show composure in late game situations, Memphis will just need to worry about staying healthy for the playoffs. The Grizz need to focus on minimizing mistakes and getting the bench players ready for the postseason in the last month.

“There’s no sugarcoating it. It is what it is. I’m just going to continue to work, continue to grind.”

Leave. Chandler. Parsons. Alone. Unless you can beat him on the court, keep quiet and have some patience. Geesh.

    NBA.com – No. 11

“After weekend losses in Dallas and Houston, the Grizzlies rank 17th in road defense (108.2 points allowed per 100 possessions). But they have the league’s best home defense (98.6) with a four-game homestand starting on Monday. David Fizdale continues to roll with Chandler Parsons, who has shot 7-for-29 since the All-Star break. Though Troy Daniels (9-for-29) hasn’t shot much better, the Grizzlies have been at their best with reserves on the floor. Their starting lineup has been outscored by 21.0 points per 100 possessions since the break, the fourth worst mark among 23 lineups that have played at least 50 post-break minutes.”

This seemed like a pretty important statistic. You know, if you like that sort of thing.
