Present: Troy Daniels.

Shooting Guard. SHOOTING guard. Defense is overrated.

*ducks*

…and Daniels needs a solidified role before he can even think about getting comfortable in the rotation. His sporadic style of play is a decent change of pace. His ball handling may be less than desirable, but all he needs is minutes and boom, you have a wonderfully productive shooting guard.

Future:

The ideal guy for the spot would be Jonathan Simmons, but it’s unlikely Popovich gives up his coveted youth. Another great option would be Justin Holiday, but he might not offer the right spacing the Grizzlies are dying for – preferably a pure shooter that can play some defense.

Wait…there’s someone sitting on the Boston bench that may be able to help. No…it can’t be.

GERALD GREEN. A High-flying, hair-trigger shooter with enough athleticism that keeps him from being a liability on defense. He doesn’t need anything more than the ball to get a shot off, and he’s one of the better catch-and-shoot players in the league. He’s gathering dust on the Boston bench, possibly as a high-energy playoff reserve, when he could be starting in Memphis, blowing the roof of the Forum with chin-above-the-rim dunks and DEEP, contested threes. Can you imagine a Tony Allen steal leading to a Gerald Green fast-break dunk? Memphis would register on a richter scale in Oakland.
