In this week’s edition of “Into the Bears’ Den,” our writers will give their takes on how the Memphis Grizzlies performed in the month of March.

Wins have been hard to come by for the Memphis Grizzlies this month. For the first time all season, the Grizzlies will finish below .500 for a month. In fact, other than the February (where they only played 11 games), March is the first month where the Grizz won’t have 10 or more wins.

Right now, the Grizzlies are a mediocre 4-9 this month. Arguably, their worst month in the entire “Grit ‘n’ Grind” era. Inconsistency on both ends of the court have plagued them this month – and in 2017.

However, Parker Fleming (@PAKA_FLOCKA), Dee Davis (@dontsleepondee) and Jake Finnen (@HalfCourtJester) give their takes on the Grizzlies’ best win this month.

Parker Fleming (@PAKA_FLOCKA): 03/13/2017 – Memphis Grizzlies 113, Milwaukee Bucks 93.

This win is important for numerous reasons. For starters, Vince Carter went absolutely berserk, scoring 24 points and hitting all eight of his field goals. Oh, he also hit six 3-pointers.

Secondly, the Bucks are a sneaky good team. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the Greek Freak and is arguably the best young prospect since LeBron James. Khris Middleton is basically a winning formula for the Bucks – going 15-7 whenever he plays. In addition, Jason Kidd has turned guys like Malcolm Brogdon, Greg Monroe and Tony Snell into solid contributors. Winning against the Bucks isn’t a slouch victory, especially when it’s by 20.

While the San Antonio win was nice, this Bucks one was crucial. Losing six games in a row would’ve been absolute doomsday in Memphis – even three games causes all sorts of hell. The fact that the Grizzlies bounced back to knock off a playoff-quality team by 20 was enough to bring that “grit ‘n’ grind” swagger back.

03/18/2017 – Memphis Grizzlies 104, San Antonio Spurs 96

Dee Davis (@dontsleepondee)

On February 6th, the Grizzlies had a nice win against the Spurs, but MVP Candidate Kawhi Leonard sat out. Both teams were at full strength this round, and the Grizzlies came out on top. A Grizzlies-Spurs playoff series is likely, so the defensive effort displayed in that game could be a preview of what this team is capable of in this matchup.

Jake Finnen (@HalfCourtJester)

I completely agree with Dee. Kawhi was back, and the Grizzlies looked like…well, the vintage Grizzlies. Great team win. Put the game away and kept it that way. Can’t ask for much more than that. Definitely made the potential playoff series between the two look like something I’d like to watch firsthand.
