No. 1: Minnesota Timberwolves

Odds of obtaining the no. 1 pick: 5.3%

Likely no. 1 pick: Markelle Fultz

If the Minnesota Timberwolves win the number one pick, the NBA should be frightened. They don’t even need the number one pick. Landing in the range of 1-9 to this core is scary.

Karl-Anthony Towns is going to be the best center in the league very soon. Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine are both dynamic wings who have already shown the ability to score 20 points a game on a nightly basis. They also have one of the best conductors in the game, Ricky Rubio, with a young, athletic Kris Dunn waiting for his shot.

Now, just imagine if they are fortunate enough to draft Markelle Fultz. They’ll have four players who could all eventually become the best at their position.

The Memphis Grizzlies will be fighting with the Timberwolves for a playoff spot next year, regardless of where this pick ends up. However, where it falls determines how quickly they could surpass the Grizzlies.

All of these scenarios are definitely not ideal. However, we have to talk about it. Let’s hope that these times don’t come anytime soon.
