The Chandler Parsons experience isn’t pleasant so far. As fans unleashed their criticism, what would the Memphis Grizzlies look like without the signing?
The Memphis Grizzlies tried to make a big splash this summer by signing Chandler Parsons, and it’s been a disaster. The near 100-million dollar man didn’t live up to expectations, averaging a career-low in shooting numbers (33.8/26.9/81.4), points (6.2), rebounds (2.5) and assists (1.6). In addition to his poor numbers, his off-the-court antics ignited the fanbase in the worst way imaginable. His Instagram posts with his nightlife wasn’t too pleasing. His off-the-court game with Bella Thorne and Kendall Jenner didn’t help fans like him. It even reached an extreme when a fan went out of his way to try to get Parsons to say that he “ruined the Grizzlies’ season.”
Sadly, his season was hindered by his knee issues. There were no issues with the one that was surgically repaired before the season, but the left knee derailed his season.
Throughout the chaos, fans decided to put on their GM hats to try to fix things. Some make hypothetical trades that get him off the team. Other come up with things the Grizzlies should’ve done in the offseason instead of signing him. That’s exactly what we do here.
In this week’s roundtable, our writers will share what this season would’ve looked like if the Memphis Grizzlies didn’t sign Chandler Parsons.
There were plenty of directions the Grizzlies could’ve gone last offseason. Would the Grizzlies be better or worse? Could they find someone that convinced Mike Conley to come back? If Parsons didn’t sign, would it lead to a full-blown rebuild?
