Bench

PG: Marko Jaric

Jaric came over in the deal that sent Kevin Love to Minnesota for OJ Mayo. In his lone season in Memphis, he averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 assists in 11.4 minutes per game. That production isn’t bad for a backup point guard, but he also cost the Grizzlies over $7,000,000. Not a good investment at all.

SG: Tony Wroten

The Grizzlies wasted a first-round draft pick on Tony Wroten in hopes that he could become Mike Conley’s backup point guard for years to come. However, after an abysmal summer league, the Grizzlies waived him. Want to know who they could’ve drafted instead? *sheds a tear* Draymond Green. *cries even more*

SF: Andre Emmett

Emmett was brought along in a series of draft-night deals and failed to produce. He only played in eight games, scoring a grand total of seven points.

PF: Lawrence Roberts

Roberts was another player brought along in a draft-night deal and just couldn’t find his niche. He only lasted two seasons in the league, averaging 3.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game.

C: Kwame Brown

If you can make a top-3 of biggest busts in NBA history, you could make an argument for Brown, Thabeet and Milicic. At the time, Brown was essentially a centerpiece in the Pau Gasol trade – a main argument on why the trade was so bad. In 13 games with the Grizzlies, he averaged 3.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per outing. Not numbers for someone who was a “centerpiece” in a trade that sent your All-Star out of town.
